WVSEC serves over 8,000 companion animal patients annually. The Centre’s board-certified specialists offer a broad range of diagnostic and treatment options, including surgery, oncology, ophthalmology and internal medicine. The hospital’s 82-person staff includes 9 board-certified specialists, eight emergency care veterinarians, a specifically trained rehabilitation veterinarian, certified veterinary technologists, animal tech assistants, client care team and administrative personnel. WVSEC also offers a fully equipped intensive care unit and 24-hour staffing for the treatment and monitoring of patients.
WVSEC expects to add enhanced cancer treatment resources in 2009, with the installation of a linear accelerator for advanced radiation therapy at its state-of-the-art, 30,000 square foot facility in downtown Calgary. This will position WVSEC as the only full-service private veterinary cancer treatment center in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia provinces and the northwest United States.
