Anesthesiologists are integral not only to safe and effective anesthesia, but also to acute and chronic pain management, local analgesia, fluid management and postoperative care. Our board certified anesthesiologist is responsible for supervising and training our technical staff in the delivery and monitoring of safe anesthesia. At Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre, a member of the Brightheart Veterinary Network, we utilize advanced monitoring and support equipment, including electrocardiography, oxymetry (determination of oxygen levels), capnography (determination of carbon dioxide levels), blood pressure monitors and ventilators to ensure patient welfare. Safe anesthesia is much more than ensuring recovery. Attention to physiologic functions during anesthesia is important to maintain optimal organ function both during and after recovery.
